Former UFC bantamweight champion, T.J. Dillashaw, has voiced his opinion that the fight between Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira was intentionally arranged to favor Topuria, setting him up for a convincing victory.
Dillashaw elaborated on his perspective: “Topuria was specifically paired with Oliveira. It was the perfect opponent for him. Charles consistently gets hit in all of his bouts. Despite his height and reach advantages, he`s willing to engage at close range. Why didn`t he maintain maximum distance against Ilia? Topuria wants you to fight on his terms, at his preferred distance, because his boxing skills are significantly superior. Even if Ilia takes a solid punch, he`s shown he can retaliate with even greater force. We`ve already seen this capability.”
