Metropolitans Levallois Join the Race for an NBA Europe Franchise

July 11, 2026Роман Валеев1 мин

The competition for an NBA Europe franchise is intensifying. While many clubs focus their efforts on concluding the current sports season, some executives are actively working behind the scenes on major administrative objectives. This is notably the case for Luc Dayan, president of Metropolitans Levallois, who aims to acquire a franchise in this prospective European league.

These efforts are materializing concretely. Luc Dayan recently shared details about this strategic move:

'The shareholders of EuroStep Ventures, Sam Katzin-Simon and Allen T. Lamb, have confirmed to me the submission of their application to the NBA for a franchise. A meeting has already taken place with Mark Tatum, Deputy Commissioner of the NBA. Should the NBA express interest, the necessary funds for its development will be available. We had considered a partnership with QSI for a potential PSG franchise, but the Qatari group has, for now, proceeded independently. This doesn't rule out future collaboration, but that is the current situation.'

Despite this commitment, the Metropolitans' project faces formidable competition. Paris Saint-Germain, a global sports giant, remains widely regarded as the undisputed frontrunner for this highly coveted franchise in the capital. Bolstered by support from figures like Kevin Durant and its status as the reigning Champions League winner in football, PSG appears to have a significant edge with American decision-makers.
