Sidney Crosby, the Pittsburgh Penguins` prominent player, is known for his exceptional hockey skills, including incredible precision and timing. It makes perfect sense that he has decided to invest in and represent a high-end Swiss watch company that was started by fellow NHL players.
Crosby is now in business with Mark Streit, a former NHL defenseman and Stanley Cup winner with Crosby in Pittsburgh, and Roman Josi, the captain of the Nashville Predators, who is also a brand ambassador in the US and Canada.
Streit mentioned that having Crosby join them is a significant milestone. He emphasized that Crosby embodies important values evident in his professional conduct, strong work ethic, and dedication. Crosby always strives for continuous improvement.
Crosby`s first encounter with Norqain watches happened at the 2019 NHL All-Star Game in San Jose, California. The brand was associated with the NHLPA at the time. Crosby received a watch for his All-Star selection and another to wear. He admired both the watch and the story behind the company.
Crosby stated that the brand has experienced rapid global growth since then. He is enthusiastic about joining and supporting its future expansion, as well as collaborating with Mark again to explore new possibilities together.
Established in 2018, Norqain has been in partnership with the NHLPA for over five years and has been present at events like the NHL All-Star Game.
Streit, who played in the NHL for 12 years, shares a long-standing relationship with Crosby, including having the same agent, Pat Brisson. When Streit was traded to the Penguins in March 2017, Crosby was the first teammate to welcome him.
Streit described Crosby as taking him under his wing, even for a player nearing 40.
Streit believes it`s a perfect alignment with Crosby, as they share similar values. He noted Crosby`s dedication to practice and his constant drive to win and improve. Streit also highlighted the challenges of launching a brand new company and gaining recognition in the competitive watch industry.
Streit maintained contact with Crosby after retiring. The watch business was a recurring conversation topic, but it took some time for Crosby to fully commit to the brand.
Streit explained that Crosby is very selective about his partnerships, which is why this collaboration was not rushed. He believes it`s positive, as any partnership requires full commitment and confidence from all parties, built on a foundation of trust.
Now that Crosby is part of Norqain, Streit hopes he might take on a more significant role in the future, after his current commitments with the Penguins conclude.
Streit added that Crosby`s current priority is entirely focused on the Pittsburgh Penguins and aiming for another Stanley Cup victory. However, he believes that in the coming years, or even a decade from now, there will be opportunities for Crosby to become more involved with the company in various capacities.
