Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Named NBA 2K26 Cover Athlete

NBA News

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is enjoying a remarkable summer.

Following an incredible season where he earned League MVP, a scoring title, and led the Oklahoma City Thunder to their first NBA championship and Finals MVP, the star guard has now been named the cover athlete for the upcoming NBA 2K26 video game.

This announcement by the game`s developer comes shortly after Gilgeous-Alexander signed a substantial four-year, $285 million maximum contract extension, securing his future with Oklahoma City until the 2030-31 season.

The 26-year-old guard had an outstanding season, averaging 32.7 points, 6.4 assists, and five rebounds. He guided the Thunder to an impressive 68-14 record, the best in the league. The team achieved a historic scoring margin, outscoring opponents by an average of 12.9 points, the highest in NBA history. Their dominant season concluded with a victory over the Indiana Pacers in a hard-fought seven-game NBA Finals series.

Gilgeous-Alexander is the first Thunder player to be featured alone on a 2K cover since Kevin Durant, who was the face of NBA 2K15 after sharing the cover for NBA 2K13.

While an official release date for NBA 2K26 hasn`t been confirmed yet, the game is generally anticipated to be released in September.
