Sergio Llull, 38, Has No Plans to Retire and Aims for Real Madrid Extension

Sports News

At 38 years old, Sergio Llull has no intention of calling time on his illustrious career. The Real Madrid veteran expressed his strong desire to continue playing, stating, “For now, I feel good physically. I’m not young anymore, but I still have the same desire and enthusiasm for this sport. As long as this passion doesn’t fade, I will continue to play and enjoy basketball here in Madrid. And I hope they renew my contract for another year so I can keep enjoying this sport and playing for Real Madrid.”

Llull first debuted with Real Madrid during the ACB League playoffs in May 2007 and in the Euroleague during the 2007-2008 season. He currently stands alongside Paulius Jankunas and Giorgos Printezis for the most Euroleague seasons played, with 19 to his name. Just one more season would make him the absolute record holder in the competition’s history.

This season, Llull has averaged 3.1 points and 1.5 assists in an average of 11 minutes across 29 Euroleague matches.
