Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O`Malley has expressed his thoughts on the upcoming rematch with current titleholder Merab Dvalishvili.
The highly anticipated fight is set to headline UFC 316, scheduled for June 7th in Newark, South Carolina.
O`Malley stated, “Considering how I felt in our first fight, I was content with my performance. It wasn`t ideal, and while I didn`t win, I don`t believe I deserved to. This rematch was necessary. Winning this time will be even more significant. Had I defeated Merab initially, he might have just been seen as a strong contender. But he defeated me, and then went on to defeat Umar Nurmagomedov.”
He added, “I am truly grateful to Merab for that loss. It pushed me to become not only a better fighter but a better person. Defeat is a peculiar thing; within hardship lies the chance for growth.”
