Manchester United legend Roy Keane strongly criticized substitute goalkeeper Altay Bayindir for his critical error during their match against Newcastle.
Bayindir, the Turkish goalkeeper, was chosen to play in the starting XI against Newcastle after Andre Onana`s poor performance against Lyon.
This game marked Bayindir’s Premier League debut for United, after his £4 million transfer from Fenerbahce last summer.
However, the 26-year-old experienced a disastrous game at St James’ Park as Newcastle dominated, winning 4-1.
Bayindir conceded three goals within the first 64 minutes of the game.
His performance worsened when, 13 minutes later, he made a poor short pass from his own penalty area.

Keane pointed out that playing for Manchester United at Newcastle requires “big boy stuff” – implying composure, good decision-making, and awareness.
He suggested that even if choosing to play a long ball, it should be decisively long to avoid immediate danger.
Les Ferdinand, another pundit, agreed with Keane, noting a trend of goalkeepers overcomplicating their play by trying to be too precise, rather than making simpler, safer choices.
Ferdinand suggested Bayindir should have opted for a simple clearance, especially when already trailing 3-1, to prevent further goals due to errors.
