Roy Keane Rages at Altay Bayindir After Costly Error

Football News

Manchester United legend Roy Keane strongly criticized substitute goalkeeper Altay Bayindir for his critical error during their match against Newcastle.

Bayindir, the Turkish goalkeeper, was chosen to play in the starting XI against Newcastle after Andre Onana`s poor performance against Lyon.

This game marked Bayindir’s Premier League debut for United, after his £4 million transfer from Fenerbahce last summer.

However, the 26-year-old experienced a disastrous game at St James’ Park as Newcastle dominated, winning 4-1.

Bayindir conceded three goals within the first 64 minutes of the game.

His performance worsened when, 13 minutes later, he made a poor short pass from his own penalty area.

Joelinton intercepted the ball and passed it to Bruno Guimaraes.

Newcastle`s captain, Guimaraes, powerfully shot the ball past Bayindir, sealing a disappointing day for United’s goalkeeper.

After the match, Roy Keane, the former captain of Manchester United, heavily criticized Bayindir’s mistake.

Keane believes Bayindir lacked the necessary composure required for a high-level goalkeeper.

Keane commented on Bayindir`s fault in the goal, emphasizing poor decision-making and unnecessary risk in his play.

He stated that such fundamental errors are unacceptable at the top level of football, especially against strong opponents like Newcastle.

Keane pointed out that playing for Manchester United at Newcastle requires “big boy stuff” – implying composure, good decision-making, and awareness.

He suggested that even if choosing to play a long ball, it should be decisively long to avoid immediate danger.

Les Ferdinand, another pundit, agreed with Keane, noting a trend of goalkeepers overcomplicating their play by trying to be too precise, rather than making simpler, safer choices.

Ferdinand suggested Bayindir should have opted for a simple clearance, especially when already trailing 3-1, to prevent further goals due to errors.

Man Utd player ratings vs Newcastle: Bayindir`s Nightmare Debut

Manchester United`s worst Premier League season is now confirmed following a 4-1 defeat by Newcastle.

The defeat ensures the Red Devils will finish with their lowest ever Premier League points total, under 56 points.

To reach 56 points, they would need to win all of their remaining six matches.

The team risks finishing as low as 17th place if performances don`t improve.

Newcastle easily exploited Manchester United`s weaknesses in the second half, contributing to a bleak day for the team.

Coach Ruben Amorim replaced Andre Onana with Altay Bayindir after Onana’s poor midweek performance against Lyon.

However, Bayindir also had a game to forget.

Goals from Sandro Tonali, two from Harvey Barnes, and Bruno Guimaraes overshadowed Alejandro Garnacho’s goal for United.
