AS Roma is reportedly making a strong push to sign Julian Brandt, who is set to become a free agent after his contract with Borussia Dortmund expires. The Italian club has initiated contact with Francesco Randazzo, Brandt’s representative in Italy, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
While Juventus and Como are also monitoring the situation, Roma has shown the most active interest so far. Brandt is expected to prioritize a team that offers UEFA Champions League football. A move to the Eternal City would see him reunite with Donyell Malen, with whom he enjoyed four successful seasons at Borussia Dortmund.
Brandt currently earns approximately €3.5 million annually. Roma is prepared to offer a slight increase, potentially up to €4 million, aligning with their new wage structure. Although the 29-year-old midfielder might receive higher offers from other clubs, Roma could guarantee him a significant role within an ambitious project. During his tenure with Borussia Dortmund, Brandt made 300 appearances, scoring 56 goals and providing 69 assists.
In a related development, Roma is anticipated to part ways with Paulo Dybala, whose high salary and frequent injury issues make his departure likely, possibly without extensive negotiations. Additionally, the club is leaning against making Bryan Zaragoza’s loan move permanent, as his performance has not justified the €13 million disbursement. This decision would incur a €500,000 penalty payable to Bayern Munich.
