World No. 2 Iga Swiatek, the reigning champion, aims to secure her fifth Roland Garros title next month. The clay-court Grand Slam will feature all Top 100 players from this week`s PIF WTA Rankings.
The official entry list for the second major of the year was announced on Tuesday. Swiatek will face strong competition from contenders eager to claim their first Roland Garros title, including World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, former finalist and World No. 4 Coco Gauff, last year`s runner-up and No. 6 Jasmine Paolini, and No. 7 Mirra Andreeva. Andreeva gained prominence last year by becoming the youngest Roland Garros semifinalist in 27 years on the Hologic WTA Tour.
The initial lineup includes four players entering the main draw with protected rankings. Petra Kvitova, a two-time Wimbledon champion and two-time Roland Garros semifinalist, highlights this group. She is set to participate in her first Grand Slam since the 2023 US Open, following the birth of her son last July. Also using protected rankings are former Roland Garros quarterfinalist Sorana Cirstea, Jodie Burrage, and Yanina Wickmayer.
Burrage, entering with a special ranking of No. 85, is anticipated to make her Roland Garros main-draw debut.
Alexandra Eala from the Philippines is also expected to debut in Paris. Her first WTA 1000 semifinal appearance at the Miami Open last month propelled her into the main draw of a Grand Slam for the first time directly. Australian 18-year-old Maya Joint, the second-youngest player in the Top 100 after Mirra Andreeva, and Colombian No. 2 Emiliana Arango, who broke into the Top 100 after reaching her first WTA 500 final in Mexico earlier this year, are also set to compete. Arango previously faced challenges in Grand Slam qualifying 10 times.
Currently, World No. 100 Robin Montgomery is the last direct acceptance to the main draw. View the full list of direct entries (pdf).
