“My immediate goal is to earn a spot on the Spanish national team. Looking a bit further, I aim to join a strong ACB team, and ultimately, my long-term vision is to play in the NBA or the Euroleague. Since I started at the Pablo Laso Academy, my post-up game has improved significantly, though I still have much work to do to perfect it.”
Shurmel’s exceptional potential has not gone unnoticed; his name is already circulating in NBA scouting circles. The respected Draftpoint website has even ranked him among the top 10 European prospects in his age group, highlighting his promising future in professional basketball.
Coach Pablo Laso, from Anadolu Efes, underscored the academy’s core mission: “Our academy is dedicated to fostering the growth of these young athletes, helping them realize their dreams, and providing all the support we can. This foundational principle guided us in establishing the academy, and the accomplishments and future of these children are the driving force behind our continuous efforts to improve and innovate.”
