Parker Porter Challenges Andrei Arlovski for BKFC Heavyweight Title, Calls it ‘Predestined’

MMA News

Andrei Arlovski

Andrei Arlovski, currently reigning as a world heavyweight champion, has caught the attention of a recent BKFC heavyweight victor. Former UFC heavyweight Parker Porter, fresh off an impressive victory against Haze Wilson at the BKFC Mohegan Sun event on March 28th, has officially set his sights on ‘The Pitbull’.

Both Arlovski and Porter have experienced rapid ascensions in bare-knuckle boxing; Arlovski, for instance, secured his championship in just two fights. Porter was present at BKFC KnuckleMania VI in Philadelphia, where he witnessed Arlovski dethrone Ben Rothwell to claim the heavyweight crown. Commenting on Arlovski’s championship win, Porter stated:

“I believe he was absolutely dominant. It’s the best we’ve seen him look in a long time, significantly better than his debut fight against Josh Copeland. While Ben Rothwell might not have been at his peak, it certainly played to Arlovski’s advantage. He looked incredibly sharp, explosive, and fast.”

“You expect someone with his extensive experience and resources to excel in any endeavor, whether it’s BKFC, a return to MMA, or anything else. The man possesses an incredible depth of knowledge, experience, and accomplishments. My hope is to get the chance to fight him.”

“Firstly, it would be an honor. Secondly, I want that belt, regardless of who holds it. However, it would be a dream match for me to face Arlovski for the title. So, if he defends it against someone else before I get my shot, I truly hope he retains it.”

A Past Almost-Encounter and a ‘Predestined’ BKFC Showdown

For Parker Porter, the potential clash with Andrei Arlovski isn’t solely about the championship belt. He sees a deeper connection, hinting that their paths were always meant to cross. Porter elaborated:

“Absolutely, 100%. We almost fought once or twice when I was under contract with the UFC, even before his retirement from the promotion. The fact that he’s now in BKFC, the current champion, and my goal is to win that belt, it truly feels predestined for us to meet. I eagerly anticipate that moment being for a title.”

The BKFC heavyweight division continues to expand, welcoming surging knockout artists like Leonardo Perdomo and former world champion Mick Terrill, who recently secured the BKFC UK heavyweight title, alongside consistent intriguing new signings. As a ranked contender, Porter reflects on the current health of the division:

“Yes, it seems like we’re attracting a lot more super-talented fighters, and the momentum is really building. Someone previously asked if BKFC was more geared towards older fighters like myself versus young, emerging talents. I think due to the growing popularity and frequent events, younger fighters are now starting to view a career in BKFC as a viable option.”

“Before, it was so new that perhaps only those with established experience in other combat sports were willing to ‘try it out.’ With this shift, I believe we’re going to see an even greater influx of highly talented heavyweights joining the ranks.”
