Fifth-seeded Jasmine Paolini overcame a strong challenge from wildcard Jule Niemeier, securing a spot in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix quarterfinals for the second consecutive year. Paolini won 6-1, 7-5, saving a set point in the second set.
Niemeier`s determined play was highlighted by an impressive tweener shot in the second set. Returning a lob from Paolini, she executed a powerful and angled tweener that forced Paolini to stretch at the net. However, Paolini responded effectively, hitting a volley winner to level the score at 3-3.
Paolini`s crucial performance in the decisive moments of the match proved to be key. After winning seven games in a row against Niemeier, taking a 6-1, 2-0 lead, she faced a resilient comeback attempt from the German player. Niemeier managed to break Paolini`s serve twice, but then made a backhand error on her own set point opportunity. Paolini then showcased her best groundstrokes, winning the final three games to secure the victory.
