UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett has articulated his reasons for being the rightful next challenger to reigning champion Ilia Topuria.
Pimblett addressed the prevailing discussions about Justin Gaethje potentially being next in line. He noted that while some advocate for Gaethje, Justin recently secured a win against an opponent ranked 11th or 12th, following his defeat to Max Holloway the previous year.
While acknowledging that arguments could be made for Gaethje, Pimblett emphasized his personal history with Topuria. He asserted that, aside from a hypothetical matchup between Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria—a clash between two of the UFC`s top pound-for-pound fighters—a bout between himself and Topuria represents the most significant and compelling fight the UFC could organize.
