Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has voiced his criticism of featherweight titleholder Ilia Topuria, who recently announced his plans to compete in the 70-pound lightweight division.
Oliveira commented, “I`ve been in the UFC for 15 years and have never spoken negatively about anyone. Topuria, however, has been disrespectful towards me. I want to remind everyone that the lightweight division in the UFC is the most challenging. I have years of experience in this division, and I understand its level of competition and my own abilities.”
Oliveira concluded, “Topuria should have approached his entry into the lightweight division with more humility and caution. There are many fighters in our division who have earned respect.” Oliveira shared these thoughts in an interview with Ag. Fight.
