Daily Faceoff: David Pagnotta, running through some of the bigger names that could be on the move this offseason, possibly this week. He touches on Zach Werenski, Elvis Merzlikins, Connor Hellebuyck, Dylan Larkin, Jake DeBrusk, Brock Boeser, and Elias Pettersson. Could there be a few other names out there?

Tyler Yaremchuk: “I’m just looking at a few other things now in the YouTube chats, buzzing with a handful of different names, but you think this is the only stunner we’re going to get this summer? Or you know, a lot of talk about, ‘Hey, could Zach Werenski put up his hand in Columbus?’ Like, are there any other situations you’re kind of watching?
Pagnotta: “Yeah, I mean, I’m expecting more moves and more fireworks this week. I’m not expecting Werenski. The indication there is that that’s not a consideration. At least at the moment, for him to look and say I want to go somewhere else. Doesn’t seem like that’s the case. Don Waddell and Judd Moldaver, his agent, spoke over the weekend, and seems like everything is kosher, and they’re fine there.

Columbus has a number of other holes that they need to fill, because it looks like Boone Jenner, Mason Marchment, Erik Gudbranson, they’re all going to market. They’ve got to get Jet Greaves locked into a brand new contract. It looks like he’s taking over a net there in Columbus. What does that mean for Elvis Merzlikins and his future out there? We probably are going to hear his name floating around again throughout the trade market.
And they’re looking to add and replace some of those pieces that they’re missing. Jake DeBrusk is a point of contact for them, point of interest, excuse me, for them and others. So, Columbus, I don’t think they’re going to sit still, but I’m not expecting Werenski thing.
I am, like the Connor Hellebuyck stuff is getting louder, and there’s, there’s what appears to be some legit conversations happening there with the Jets
Obviously, we’re waiting on Dylan Larkin, and I mean, is it just a foregone conclusion now? Take what you offered for Brady and just give that to Detroit for, for Larkin. Maybe Stevie Y wants something different. But it seems like there’s a natural progression of a fit there, so obviously keep tabs on that.
Lot more noise coming out of Vancouver again. I just mentioned the DeBrusk, but also Brock Boeser’s name is out there, and Elias Pettersson as well. Now that it looks like Vancouver is willing to retain a little bit of that contract, two, two and a half, if you get him down to 9 million per year on a deal, is that make it a little more palatable for some teams to look at? Is it a Montreal, is it an LA, is it another team?

So I’m expecting, you know, two or three big moves here between now and the end of draft weekend. And it wouldn’t shock me if, you know, we get something totally out of left field, because we’re everyone’s kind of focused on the on the primary targets right now. You know, Darnell Nurse and Morgan Rielly and Larkin and Hellebuyck, that we talked about, and so on.
But is there that, that out of left field kind of, you know, thing that I’m trying to figure out? But things are starting to get a little hush-hush across the board; usually, that means there’s something going on”
