EA Sports is recognizing the standout performers of the 2024-25 NHL season with the introduction of the NHL 25 Team of the Season (TOTS). Unlike the Team of the Year (TOTY), which assesses players over a calendar year, TOTS focuses specifically on achievements within the ongoing season.

The TOTS roster will be rolled out over three weeks. The initial reveal is here, showcasing six exceptional players:

  • Connor Hellebuyck, Goalie, Winnipeg Jets (94 OVR)
  • Cale Makar, Defenseman, Colorado Avalanche (94 OVR)
  • Zach Werenski, Defenseman, Columbus Blue Jackets (94 OVR)
  • Nikita Kucherov, Right Wing, Tampa Bay Lightning (94 OVR)
  • Leon Draisaitl, Center, Edmonton Oilers (94 OVR)
  • Nathan MacKinnon, Center, Colorado Avalanche (94 OVR)

MacKinnon, Kucherov, and Draisaitl are currently leading the NHL in scoring. Makar is the top-scoring defenseman, and Werenski is second among defensemen. Hellebuyck is the leading NHL goalie in wins, save percentage, and goals-against average.

MacKinnon, Kucherov, Makar, and Hellebuyck, all previously named to TOTY, now join the exclusive group of players honored in both prestigious programs.

In addition to TOTS, EA Sports congratulated Alex Ovechkin on his record-breaking 895th career goal by highlighting a remarkable statistic: From NHL 07 to NHL 25, players have used Ovechkin in the game to score an estimated 216,347,405 goals. While this is likely extrapolated data, it underscores Ovechkin`s enduring impact and virtual goal-scoring prowess over many years.
