The recent WNBA draft saw Nell Angloma selected by the Connecticut Sun, a moment that signifies the culmination of her hard work and dedication. Sharing this achievement with her family, loved ones, and agent Sébastien Deikerel, Angloma expressed her eagerness to embrace this new chapter and the experiences it will bring.
Angloma plans to finish her current season with Montpellier before joining the Sun, depending on her team’s playoff results. Her trip to the United States for the draft ceremony was a memorable experience, including a visit to the impressive Empire State Building. The day after the draft, she met with the Connecticut Sun staff and explored their facilities.
Despite a standout season with the Gazelles, Angloma approached the draft with measured expectations, having set a goal with her team to be selected in the first round and enter the league. She expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
Her academic pursuits have been a significant part of her development, having completed her education at the Pôle Espoir in Rouen and the Centre Fédéral before signing her first professional contract with Montpellier. Setting and achieving new goals is a driving force for her continuous growth.
“Everywhere I go, I want to be the best.”
Angloma believes her playing style is well-suited for the WNBA and views the opportunity as a chance to further develop her skills. She is confident in her ability to compete and perform at a high level in the league, learning from the talented and athletic players. This experience will undoubtedly help her grow and refine her game.
She sees her current season with BLMA as a continuation of her strong performance with the French U19 team in the summer of 2025, where she excelled in scoring, rebounding, and assists. Her time with the national team boosted her confidence and ability to handle responsibility, and she is grateful for the opportunities she’s been given by her coaches.
The Montpellier team is motivated to win a championship for their coach, Valéry Demory, in his final season, as well as for themselves, seeing it as a fitting reward for their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
When asked about areas for improvement, Angloma acknowledged the need for greater consistency, stating, “We need to have fewer big lulls.” The team is focused on their upcoming games against Basket Landes and is prepared to work hard to achieve success.
Despite her young age and the pressures of a professional career, Angloma exudes a remarkable sense of serenity. She feels fortunate to pursue her passion and succeed, recognizing that this is the result of significant effort and dedication. Maintaining discipline, patience, and belief in herself are key principles she adheres to.
Her dedication to hard work has been a constant throughout her career. Her first season in the top division presented new challenges and transitions, but her unwavering belief in her path has been instrumental in her current success. Overcoming difficult moments and persevering have allowed her to express her talent and surpass previous limitations.
Her time at the Pôle France (INSEP) played a crucial role in her development as both a person and a player. Angloma credits the guidance she received at INSEP and the positive influences of everyone she’s encountered throughout her journey, from Rouen to Montpellier, for shaping her into the player she is today.
With her early impact in the LFB, Angloma’s future looks bright. While she aims to be among the top players in any league she’s a part of, her immediate focus is on finishing the season strong with Montpellier and then contributing to the Connecticut Sun. The possibility of playing in the Euroleague in the future remains open, but for now, she is concentrating on her present commitments.
