Milan Prioritizes Kean in Ongoing Search for a Striker

Football News

AC Milan has identified Moise Kean as their primary target for the crucial number nine position. However, the success of this potential transfer hinges significantly on Fiorentina’s financial expectations. The Rossoneri are reportedly unwilling to activate Kean’s substantial €60 million release clause and instead aim to negotiate a lower price.

The Milanese club believes that the striker’s current market value should be considerably reduced, especially given his somewhat underwhelming performance this season. Kean has only managed to score 8 goals in 24 appearances during the 2024/2025 campaign, a period often hampered by a persistent ankle injury and Fiorentina’s overall struggles.

Interestingly, Milan’s coach, Massimiliano Allegri, shares a prior working relationship with Kean from their time together at Juventus. Allegri notably showed greater confidence in the forward than other coaches, fielding him in 102 matches across three seasons, during which Kean scored 14 times.

Kean’s current annual salary of €4.5 million, a hefty sum for Fiorentina, would be more manageable for larger clubs. Furthermore, his existing camaraderie with Milan’s star winger, Rafael Leao, could be a positive factor in any potential move.

Despite these favorable points, obstacles could arise. According to Ivan Zazzaroni, director of Corriere dello Sport, former director Fabio Paratici is reportedly displeased with past dealings involving Milan, suggesting he might be reluctant to engage in further transfers with the club.

From a tactical standpoint, Kean appears to be a good fit for Milan. However, Fiorentina has little incentive to accept a significantly reduced offer, especially if other clubs abroad are willing to pay more for the player, particularly after a challenging season. Milan’s recent transfer history shows a reluctance to spend more than €40 million on any single player, a sum that might not suffice to secure Kean’s services.
