Michael Jordan’s former Chicago-area estate listed on Airbnb

Michael Jordan`s former residence in Highland Park, Illinois, is now being offered as a rental, potentially serving as an ideal retreat for those who appreciate luxury, privacy, and basketball.

The property, acquired by real estate investor John Cooper for $9.5 million in December, became available for short-term rental on Airbnb this month.

Constructed in 1995, the extensive two-story estate features seven bedrooms and 17.5 bathrooms. Notable amenities include a full-size basketball court, a putting green, a tennis court, a cigar room, and an infinity pool. A distinctive element is the grand entrance gate adorned with the number 23, famously worn by Jordan during his playing career with the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards.

Renting the mansion requires a minimum seven-night reservation and is limited to a maximum of 12 guests. Guests are required to sign both a liability waiver and a nondisclosure agreement, in addition to providing a $25,000 security deposit.

A week-long stay at this iconic property, also known as Champions Point, could incur costs exceeding six figures.

Cooper indicated that his long-term plans for the property are not yet finalized.

“I am still considering many different uses for the property,” he stated. “Some significant uses would require zoning changes, but in the meantime, short-term rentals are permitted to showcase the property and generate income.”

The sprawling 32,683-square-foot mansion was built in 1995 on 7 acres Jordan purchased in 1991. It was first listed for sale on December 17, 2013, with an asking price of $29 million. The eventual sale price represented a significant 67% reduction from the initial listing price after the property remained on the market for 12 years.
