Reports indicate that Manchester United is nearing its initial signing for the summer transfer period, targeting Wolves` Matheus Cunha.

The transfer window for United is anticipated to commence with the acquisition of Wolves` talented player, Matheus Cunha.
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United`s transfer department intends to activate the 25-year-old forward`s £62.5 million release clause once the domestic season concludes shortly. It is understood that the club is fully aware of the specific terms required to trigger this clause.
While direct negotiations with Wolves have not yet commenced, these formal steps are expected to take place after the current Premier League campaign wraps up.
This season, Cunha has been a key player for the Molineux club, registering 17 goals and providing six assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. This strong performance has naturally attracted attention from several prominent clubs.
However, Cunha is reportedly keen on a move to Manchester United, and an agreement on personal terms is believed to be close.
His goal tally places him second among current Manchester United players this season, just behind team captain Bruno Fernandes, who has scored 19 goals (and recorded 19 assists). Beyond Fernandes, only Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, and Amad Diallo have reached double figures for goals this season, with Amad achieving this despite playing significantly fewer games than his teammates.
Cunha is reportedly the primary target for the United hierarchy as they seek to urgently strengthen their attack, which underperformed significantly last season, setting a club record for the fewest goals scored by forwards.
Liam Delap from Ipswich Town is also rumoured to be on the list of potential attacking recruits; the English forward is reportedly available for around £30 million due to a clause activated by his club`s relegation.
Manchester United has also been linked with potential moves for other forwards, including Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Bryan Mbeumo, and Moise Kean.
Beyond strengthening the forward line, the club`s reported transfer priorities also encompass recruiting new central defenders, a goalkeeper, and central midfielders.
