International basketball stars Marine Johannes and Gabby Williams, friends off the court but club rivals in Istanbul (one playing for Galatasaray, the other for Fenerbahçe), recently shared an exclusive interview. During their discussion, they touched upon their experiences with “Les Bleues” (the French national team), the ongoing transformation in women’s basketball, and the mutual influence they have on each other.
Gabby revealed, “After my first summer with the French national team, I told my teammates in the United States: Marine taught me to have more fun on the court.”
Marine, in turn, stated, “Americans often seem to have no doubt when they’re on the court, and Gabby possesses that quality. That’s what she brings to the French national team, not only to me but to others as well.”
