Manchester United Confirms Departure of Ten Players, Including Eriksen and Evans, Signalling Major Summer Changes

Football News

Manchester United has announced that ten players are set to leave the club as part of a significant squad reshuffle this summer.

The Red Devils confirmed their list of released and retained players, with several well-known names among those departing Old Trafford.

Senior players like Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof were not offered contract extensions, marking the end of their time at the club.

Lindelof spent eight years at Manchester United after joining from Benfica in 2017. During his time, he played 284 matches and won the FA Cup and League Cup.

Evans` second spell at Old Trafford comes to an end; he played a total of 241 games for the club across both periods. He returned to United in 2023 on a free transfer following stints at West Brom and Leicester City.

His time without a club might be brief, as he`s already been linked with a move to Wrexham.

Eriksen also arrived on a free transfer in 2022. The Danish midfielder impressively returned to football after suffering a cardiac arrest in May 2021 during the European Championships.

He made his return to the game during a six-month period at Brentford starting in January 2022, before moving to Manchester. For United, Eriksen featured 108 times, scoring eight goals and providing 19 assists.

Veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton is also expected to leave unless a new agreement is reached. The club stated that discussions regarding a new contract are currently ongoing.

It is reported that a new deal would keep the former Burnley keeper at Old Trafford for the 2025/26 season. He did participate in the club`s post-season tour in Asia.
