Manchester United Confirm Europa League Final Squad: Key Defenders Miss Out vs Tottenham

Manchester United will be without key defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez for tomorrow night`s Europa League final against Tottenham.

The squad for the highly anticipated match in Bilbao has been confirmed, with De Ligt and Martinez being the only two senior players unavailable for selection.

De Ligt faced a late fitness battle after picking up an injury against Brentford earlier this month. Despite initial hopes it wasn`t serious, he missed recent matches and ultimately couldn`t recover in time for the final.

Lisandro Martinez`s absence was expected, as he suffered a ruptured ACL injury back in February.

While these defensive absences are a blow, Ruben Amorim`s side has received a boost in attack. Striker Joshua Zirkzee has been included in the travelling squad, despite Amorim previously stating the Dutch forward was out for the season.

Amorim had commented on Zirkzee`s injury previously: “He`s not going to play more this season. Let`s prepare him for the next one. It`s tough, especially in this moment. I think he`s improving in all aspects of the game, so it`s hard for any player to stop.”

Furthermore, Diogo Dalot and Leny Yoro, who were considered doubts, have also been named in the squad travelling to Bilbao.

Full-back Dalot has been dealing with a calf issue since the loss to Wolves in April.

Yoro sustained an injury during United`s home defeat to West Ham in May.

Young striker Chido Obi will miss the trip as he is ineligible under UEFA rules following his transfer from Arsenal in October.

Opponents Tottenham Hotspur will also be without several key players due to injury. Manager Ange Postecoglou cannot call upon James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, both ruled out with knee injuries. Lucas Bergvall is also considered a major doubt due to an ankle ligament issue.
