Football News

Reports indicate that Viktor Gyokeres has threatened to go on strike to push for a summer move away from Sporting CP. The in-demand striker is linked with various clubs, notably Manchester United and Arsenal.

Last September, Gyokeres reportedly reached an informal agreement with Sporting officials suggesting he could depart this summer for about £60 million (including add-ons). However, Portuguese outlet Record states the Swedish forward is now unhappy with Sporting`s higher valuation, reportedly closer to £70 million.

Record also claims that Gyokeres has declared he will refuse to play for Sporting again, highlighting his strong desire for a transfer this summer. The ex-Coventry striker is said to have informed the club`s leadership he would even strike to secure his desired move.

He currently has three years left on his contract in Lisbon, which includes a reported release clause of around £85 million.

Sources suggest the forward`s agent has notified Sporting of substantial interest from four clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal.

Joining Manchester United could mean a reunion with his former Sporting manager, Ruben Amorim.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are actively seeking a prolific striker, a role Mikel Arteta`s team has struggled to fill.

Beyond the Premier League clubs, Al-Hilal and Juventus are also reportedly interested.

The 27-year-old Gyokeres enjoyed a remarkable season for Sporting. The former Brighton player scored an impressive 39 goals in just 33 Portuguese league matches and a total of 54 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions, including a notable hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Gyokeres, reportedly feeling `betrayed` by Sporting`s management, recently commented on his situation: “It`s football, I`m still here. I don`t know what`s going to happen. Nobody can predict the future.”
