Manchester City player Phil Foden was deeply shaken after his cousin, whom he considers like a sister, and her three young children narrowly escaped a house fire at their home.
The 24-year-old England attacking midfielder was left distressed by the incident, which occurred at his cousin`s house during the night.

Codie Owen, who grew up with Phil and is like a `sister` to him, bravely managed to lead two of her young children out of the property in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
Showing immense courage, she then re-entered the burning house to rescue her third child.

Firefighters were called to the scene near Stockport County`s stadium and worked for over two hours to extinguish the blaze.
Codie and her children were transported to Stepping Hill hospital as a precaution to be checked for smoke inhalation.
Investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by a faulty extractor fan located in an upstairs bathroom.
A source close to the family stated, “Phil was extremely upset when he learned what happened. He`s very, very close to Codie. They were best friends growing up. He sees her as a sister and adores her children.”
The source added, “He is now helping her find temporary accommodation because she cannot return to the house for some time due to the extensive smoke damage.”
In 2021, Codie shared a heartfelt message about Phil on Facebook, writing, “We are so proud of you.” In 2018, she posted a selfie with Phil and her son, celebrating Phil`s 18th birthday and referring to him affectionately.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed the incident: “At 1:20 am on Friday, May 2nd, three fire engines responded to a house fire in Edgeley, Stockport. The fire was on the first floor. Crews used breathing apparatus, a hose reel, and a positive pressure ventilation fan to fight the fire. One adult and three children were taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Fire crews were at the location for two hours.”
Phil Foden`s agent was contacted for comment regarding the incident.
