Machida Fukuda Cruises into Road to UFC Season 5 Strawweight Semifinals with Dominant Finish
Machida Fukuda has secured her spot in the strawweight semifinals of Road to UFC Season 5 with a dominant second-round stoppage victory over Anelya Toktogonova of Kyrgyzstan on Friday in Macau.
Despite a late opponent change, Machida Fukuda, known as “Kakutou Komachi,” showed no signs of disruption and imposed her game from the opening bell. The former Deep Jewels champion quickly showcased her grappling skills, which have been instrumental in her rise through the Japanese MMA scene.
Fukuda, who found early success on the feet, was able to dictate where the fight took place, ultimately proving decisive. After controlling much of the first round, she immediately dragged the contest back to the mat at the start of the second round and relentlessly attacked from top position. Toktogonova struggled to create any separation from the sustained barrage of ground-and-pound from Fukuda.
Referee Vitor Ribeiro stepped in to wave off the contest at 1:53 of the second round, unable to allow the onslaught to continue. This victory extends Machida Fukuda’s winning streak to seven straight fights and improves her professional record to 11 wins and 2 losses. Seven of these wins have now come by stoppage.
The 22-year-old fighter has not tasted defeat since a narrow split-decision loss to Si Woo Park at Deep Jewels 45 in May 2024.
