Luka Doncic to Miss Summer Play with Slovenia

Slovenia will be without their star player, Luka Doncic, this summer. Following his NBA team’s elimination from the playoffs, Doncic has also announced he will be sitting out international commitments. He explained his decision on Instagram, citing the need to spend time with his daughters.

Doncic stated, “I love my daughters more than anything, and they will always be my priority. As I continue to try to obtain shared custody, I was forced to make a difficult decision between playing for the national team or seeing my daughters this summer. Unfortunately, it has been very difficult for me to see them over the past eight months.”

He added, “I have always given my all to represent Slovenia and am disappointed that I cannot play for my country this summer. But at this moment, my daughters and my responsibilities as a father are my priority.”

However, Doncic’s absence may not significantly impact Slovenia’s World Cup qualifying campaign. The team is already close to advancing to the second round, needing just one more win. They have upcoming matches against Estonia and Sweden.
