Liverpool`s Luis Diaz has fueled speculation about a potential £70 million transfer to Barcelona, admitting he is engaging in discussions with other clubs.
Despite this, Liverpool recently turned down an approach from the Catalan club to open negotiations for the Colombian winger, signaling their reluctance to sell.

Diaz, who still has two years remaining on his Anfield contract, stated: “The transfer market is currently active, and we are evaluating the best options for our future. We are indeed holding discussions with other clubs; it`s a normal part of the transfer window.
“I am content at Liverpool, where I`ve felt welcomed since my arrival. We are in communication with the club regarding these ongoing talks.
“I`m waiting to see how things unfold. If Liverpool does not present a compelling offer, I am still content to fulfill my remaining two years here.
“Ultimately, the decision rests with them, and I await their move. Naturally, my personal choice for my future is also paramount.”
These surprising remarks from Diaz emerged shortly after Liverpool`s official X (formerly Twitter) account shared an image of him embracing the Premier League trophy, accompanied by the caption “He’s from Barrancas and he plays for Liverpool,” a post that now appears ironically timed given his comments.
Such a candid statement is likely to cause frustration for new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who is keen to build his squad.
The 28-year-old winger played a crucial role in Liverpool`s Premier League title campaign last season, contributing 13 goals and five assists. He initially joined the Merseyside club from Porto in January 2022, in a deal valued at up to £49 million.
Across 148 appearances for Liverpool, the Colombian international has netted 41 goals and secured major honors including the Premier League, FA Cup, and two League Cups.
Barcelona`s sporting director, Deco, reportedly reached out to Liverpool on Wednesday to discuss a potential transfer, but was informed that the Anfield club has no intention of selling Diaz. New boss Arne Slot, a Dutchman, is keen to retain Diaz as part of his plans for next season`s title challenge, which involves a significant £200 million squad overhaul, potentially including the £126 million acquisition of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
Barcelona envisions Diaz joining Raphinha and Lamine Yamal to complete their attacking trio. Additionally, Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr has reportedly identified Diaz as a primary transfer target, broadening his options.

Adding to the speculation, his partner, Gera Ponce, posted an emotional message on Instagram, which some fans have interpreted as a farewell.
Her message read: “Thank you for all the love, dedication, and for making us feel at home. This is a true, deep, and strong connection, reiterating that we’ll never walk alone.”
