The Associated Press retracted its report stating that LeBron James authored an op-ed for Chinese state media. A representative for James clarified that the comments attributed to him were made during media sessions, but he did not write the article.
The initial report quoted James as saying: “It`s super humbling for me to be able to come here, so far away from home, and get the reception and the love, I just wanted to pour it back to the community and to this country.” Xinhua, the official news agency, was cited as the source for the quote.
The Associated Press removed this story due to an inaccurate attribution of the information`s origin.
