Klay Thompson`s cherished English bulldog named Rocco has passed away after 13 years by the side of the NBA player. Rocco had been a devoted companion for over a decade.
Thompson shared his sorrow on Instagram Friday, looking back on their time together and expressing wishes for Rocco to find peace in the afterlife.
In his social media post, Thompson wrote, “I`m gonna miss Rocco a lot, 13 glorious years with my boy.” He continued, “I know he`s in doggy heaven poppin somebody`s ball. A great dynasty dog he was. Thank you for all the sweet messages! All dogs go to Heaven!”
Rocco became quite popular with fans during Thompson`s successful period as a member of the Golden State Warriors` famous “Splash Brothers.” He was seen as the loyal and lovable close friend of the All-Star guard.
Thompson previously mentioned Rocco`s significance, calling the bulldog his top essential item in a 2019 interview with GQ Sports.
He commented at the time, “He`s a loyal steed. And he`s the first pet I`ve ever owned, so Rocco you`ll forever hold a special place in my heart buddy.”
Rocco even had his own dedicated Instagram page featuring photos of him and Thompson, which gathered more than 60,000 followers.
Tributes for Rocco were posted by several individuals, including Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II, Los Angeles Dodgers first basemen Enrique Hernandez, and rapper G-Eazy, who left comments on Thompson`s Instagram tribute. The Golden State Warriors organization also shared a post honoring Rocco.
