José Delano secured a hard-fought victory against Robert Ruchała in an exciting clash that initiated the main card of UFC Vegas 115 on Saturday.
The bout began with both fighters exchanging powerful strikes in the first round. While Ruchała demonstrated higher activity, Delano’s striking proved more impactful, as he effectively combined jabs and kicks at close quarters. This pattern continued into the second round, where Delano’s confidence grew, leading to a noticeable injury to Ruchała’s nose.
Entering the final round with the fight potentially even, Ruchała and Delano immediately engaged in a furious exchange. With just over two minutes remaining, Ruchała initiated a clinch, attempting to take Delano to the ground. However, Delano skillfully countered, gaining double underhooks and nearly achieving a takedown himself.
Ruchała managed to avoid being put on the canvas only by overtly grabbing the fence with both hands. This clear foul prompted referee Keith Peterson to halt the action and deduct a point from Ruchała.
Following the restart, the fighters continued their engagement along the cage before separating in the final minute of the match.
Having incurred a point deduction, Ruchała desperately needed a finish to secure a win, yet “The Faker” failed to exhibit the necessary urgency in the concluding moments. Ultimately, the decision went to the judges’ scorecards, resulting in an expected outcome.
Official Result: José Delano defeated Robert Ruchała via unanimous decision (30-26, 29-27, 29-27).
