UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has publicly stated his desire to step into the octagon with former division leader Francis Ngannou, contingent on Ngannou`s potential return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
This declaration comes while the UFC organization has reportedly been facing challenges in arranging a championship bout between Jones and the current interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall.
Taking to the platform X (formerly Twitter), Jones articulated his rationale, describing a potential encounter with Ngannou as a genuine “super-fight” – a collision of “two real legacies.” He drew a distinction between facing another established former titleholder and what he perceives as a fight primarily driven by “hype,” seemingly referencing the potential match-up with Aspinall. Jones emphasized that a battle against Ngannou would be a significant addition, bringing something uniquely valuable to his career narrative.
