Former mixed martial arts champion Demetrious Johnson believes that interim UFC heavyweight titleholder Tom Aspinall should not put his career on hold waiting for a fight with undisputed champion Jon Jones.
Johnson stated, “If I were in Aspinall`s position, I wouldn`t want to wait for six months. It seems like the UFC should book him for another fight. While fighting Jon Jones would be the biggest opportunity of his career, waiting is not ideal.”
He further elaborated on his YouTube channel, “Considering Jon Jones` desired six-month timeline, I would advise Aspinall to take another fight. He should defend his interim heavyweight belt. Everyone seems to be operating on Jon Jones` schedule, letting him dictate the terms. Aspinall shouldn`t wait around for Jones.”
