In a significant blow to JL Bourg, three of its key players have been handed two-game suspensions in the Betclic Élite following disciplinary actions stemming from incidents during recent league fixtures. Kevin Kokila, Assémian Moularé, and Tajuan Agee will each be sidelined for two crucial matches.
The sanctions were issued by the Legal, Disciplinary, and Regulations Commission of the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB). Kevin Kokila’s suspension is a result of an altercation at the end of the game against Boulazac Basket Dordogne on February 6, 2026. Assémian Moularé and Tajuan Agee received identical penalties after an incident during the match against SIG Strasbourg on February 14, 2026.
Other Betclic Élite teams also faced disciplinary action. Boulazac’s point guard Antoine Eïto and pivot Ousman Krubally were each suspended for one game. Additionally, Strasbourg’s leader Marcus Keene, who had previously served a suspension earlier in the season, was sanctioned for two matches.
JL Bourg’s Response: Disproportionate Sanctions and Appeal
JL Bourg Basket officially acknowledged the disciplinary decisions on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. The two-game suspensions for Kokila, Moularé, and Agee are scheduled for the following Betclic Élite championship games:
- Matchday 25: JL Bourg vs. Limoges CSP — April 15, 2026
- Matchday 26: JL Bourg vs. AS Monaco Basket — April 12, 2026
While the club stated its respect for the professional French basketball disciplinary bodies and the available avenues for appeal, it declared that it considers these decisions “disproportionate to the facts.” Consequently, JL Bourg has decided to file an appeal with the Appeal Chamber of the French Basketball Federation.
Furthermore, JL Bourg expressed specific concerns regarding the scheduling of these suspensions. The club noted that having all affected players suspended for the same match days deviates from practices observed earlier in the season. JL Bourg believes this creates an unfair sporting imbalance incompatible with the championship’s equity requirements, a point that will be explicitly addressed in their appeal.
The club concluded its statement by affirming its full support for its players, expressing confidence that they will continue to approach the remainder of the season with their characteristic professionalism and commitment.
