The French women’s national team delivered a stellar performance at the Villeurbanne qualifying tournament, convincingly defeating all opponents, including strong contenders like Nigeria and Germany. Central to this exceptional display was Janelle Salaün, whose outstanding contributions on the court earned her the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title for the competition.
Across the three matches she played, the Prague-based forward averaged an impressive 16.7 points and 6.3 rebounds, demonstrating remarkable efficiency by converting 19 out of 24 shot attempts. This precision resonated throughout the team, as Les Bleues achieved an excellent 43% success rate from beyond the arc over the entire tournament.
Marine Johannès Shines and Joins All-Star Five
In Salaün’s absence, Marine Johannès brilliantly stepped up during the match against South Korea. Her exceptional performance of 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists secured her a well-deserved spot in the tournament’s All-Star Five. She joins Leeseul Kang (South Korea), Frieda Buhner (Germany), and Victoria Macauley (Nigeria), acknowledging her significant impact throughout the competition.
