Discussions took place on several occasions with his agents, Giuliano Bertolucci and Kia Joorabchian. Nonetheless, Chelsea was reluctant to part with him back then, as he was considered a potential starter following his loan stint at Strasbourg.
Furthermore, Andrey Santos’s asking price was deemed excessive for Inter at the time, especially after Chelsea reportedly rejected a substantial €50 million offer from Saudi Arabia.
