As the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs commence, the stylish mask designs worn by goaltenders are poised to capture attention. These unique pieces of equipment are often used by goalies as a canvas for self-expression. While many designs align with team colors, the opportunities for creativity are anything but limited.
For instance, Washington Capitals goalie Logan Thompson`s mask features a detailed drawing of Nicolas Cage, referencing the `National Treasure` film series. Similarly, Jacob Markstrom of the New Jersey Devils showcases his team pride with a vibrant red devil head adorning his mask.
But these examples only scratch the surface. Let`s take a look at some of the notable mask designs sported by goalies participating in this postseason (keeping in mind that some special variations might not be seen during the playoffs).

Carolina Hurricanes
Pyotr Kochetkov
The Russian goaltender from Penza maintains a simple yet effective mask design. It incorporates subtle elements representing his hometown, topped with a bear featuring piercing red eyes.

Frederik Andersen
Andersen is recognized for his Lego-themed masks, including one featuring a Danish Viking that he`s continued to wear this season. He also introduced a design featuring a dinosaur and a hidden Lego Batman on the side.
Colorado Avalanche
Mackenzie Blackwood
Acquired mid-season from the San Jose Sharks, Blackwood quickly needed customized helmets. Designed by David Gunnarsson, his options include a Rocky Mountain theme or a charming mask featuring the Avalanche mascot, Bernie.
Scott Wedgewood
Also a mid-season acquisition, Wedgewood boasts two distinctive designs. One features the `Game of Thrones` Night King on the chin, flanked by alternating colored dragons. The other sweetly portrays his two dogs alongside his daughter.
Dallas Stars
Jake Oettinger
Oettinger frequently incorporates otters into his mask designs, and this season is no different. This time, an otter is depicted riding a bull in a Western-themed concept developed by the Stars` equipment staff. A simpler otter design is also available for Dallas` all-black uniform nights.
Casey DeSmith
DeSmith also leans into a Western theme for his masks, with one design specifically created to complement the all-black uniforms.

Edmonton Oilers
Stuart Skinner
Skinner`s headgear options feature similar designs, coordinated to match the Oilers` white and blue uniforms.
Calvin Pickard
Pickard`s straightforward mask design references the team`s name with a prominent oil drop symbol on top.
Florida Panthers
Sergei Bobrovsky
Bobrovsky`s ongoing `brick by brick` mask series includes both a red and a purple variation this season.
Los Angeles Kings
Darcy Kuemper
Following the Kings` redesign last offseason, Kuemper`s mask incorporates the team`s new logos for a sharp, updated look.
David Rittich
Rittich`s all-silver helmet is famously adorned with none other than Bart Simpson sporting a crown on the very top.
Minnesota Wild
Filip Gustavsson
Gustavsson`s helmet design features a large `M` prominently placed on the top, with the classic Wild logo displayed on the sides.

Marc-Andre Fleury
Regardless of the Wild`s playoff outcome, Fleury`s potentially final season mask is a noteworthy piece. It pays tribute to several Minnesota professional sports franchises, including the NBA`s Timberwolves, MLB`s Twins, and NFL`s Vikings, depicted on the sides.

Montreal Canadiens
Sam Montembeault
Montembeault`s masks often contain subtle `Easter eggs` that might not be immediately obvious. One design features banners on the side honoring the three Canadiens goalies whose numbers are retired at Bell Centre: Jacques Plante, Ken Dryden, and Patrick Roy. It also includes design elements resembling the wool stitching of older uniforms.
Another striking design, created by Jordon Bourgeault, presents a futuristic cyborg theme, where the old masks of Plante and Dryden form the face of the cyborg.
Jakub Dobes
Dobes opts for a winter ice blue theme. His mask is complete with a wolf image on top and his nickname, `Doby`, visible on the chin area.
New Jersey Devils
Jacob Markstrom
Markstrom`s masks perfectly embody the Devils` name with versatile, spooky designs. Also crafted by Bourgeault, one version features a bold red devil on top and spears along the sides. For games where the Devils wear their black uniforms, Markstrom has a matching dark-themed option.

Jake Allen
Both of Allen`s masks share a very similar design concept, differentiated primarily by color: one is rendered in black, and the other in white.

Ottawa Senators
Linus Ullmark
Ullmark has maintained a `Sens N Stripes` theme for his masks, featuring a particularly sharp chrome design among his options.
Anton Forsberg
Forsberg commonly includes images of his children on his mask, a tradition he continues with artist Dave Fried. His dog is a notable element on both designs, and Peppa Pig makes an appearance on a darker version.
St. Louis Blues
Jordan Binnington
The St. Louis Blues logo is prominently displayed on the sides of Binnington`s mask, with ice details giving the `Blues` text on top a frosty look.

Joel Hofer
Similar to Binnington, Hofer adheres to the Blues` color scheme but incorporates additional playful elements: dice and a flopping fish.

Tampa Bay Lightning
Andrei Vasilevskiy
Vasilevskiy`s masks are consistently contenders for the most innovative designs. One particularly unique mask changes color based on temperature – appearing black and blue on the ice, but shifting to white and pale blue at room temperature. He also has another appealing light blue and white option.
Jonas Johansson
Lightning bolts serve as the central theme for Johansson`s masks, including a sleek black design featuring the bolts.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Joseph Woll
Two of Woll`s masks share a common theme, prominently featuring the Trolltunga, or `Troll`s Tongue`, a famous scenic spot in Norway.
Anthony Stolarz
Stolarz is set to wear a sharp, chrome-finished design during the postseason.
Vegas Golden Knights
Adin Hill
Given Las Vegas`s F1 circuit presence, Hill appropriately has an F1-themed mask. Hill also sports a `cowboy knight` look, complete with four playing cards depicted on the back.
Ilya Samsonov
Samsonov`s mask design features the Golden Knights` logo on the back of the helmet, complemented by sword graphics on the sides.
Washington Capitals
Logan Thompson
Thompson`s mask is a strong candidate for the best pop culture reference. It features highly realistic drawings of actor Nicolas Cage from the `National Treasure` series on both sides. The back of the mask also includes depictions of the Washington Monument and his two dogs.
Charlie Lindgren
Lindgren showcases a stylish retro-inspired mask design, enhanced with 3D details that create a popping visual effect.
Winnipeg Jets
Connor Hellebuyck
Hellebuyck has multiple mask options, including one designed to match Winnipeg`s heritage uniforms and another sleek all-white design.
Eric Comrie
With a jet prominently featured on both the top and sides, Comrie`s mask provides a clear and fitting tribute to the team name this postseason.
