Everton Football Club has issued a strong statement condemning the “threatening” and abusive messages directed at the wife of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Sandra Calvert-Lewin, 28, faced negative reactions from certain supporters on social media following her posts after Everton`s last match at Goodison Park.
Sharing a photo of her husband, 28, who came on late in the 2-0 victory against Southampton, the Swiss model commented: “30 goals at Goodison. Top 3 ever. They may not acknowledge it publicly – but we are proud every single day.”
Following severe abuse, Sandra reiterated her support for Calvert-Lewin, whose contract expires this summer, potentially allowing a free move to Newcastle.
Sandra, who was previously in a relationship with former Arsenal player and current Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry, also stated: “I have witnessed the unseen struggles – the recovery process, the self-doubt, the resilience required to persevere. The public knows Dominic Calvert-Lewin the footballer. I know the man I love. And I am immensely proud of both aspects.”
In response, Everton has issued a statement strongly criticising the offensive remarks directed at Calvert-Lewin`s wife.
The statement declared: “Everton Football Club strongly condemns the threatening, racist and misogynistic abuse directed towards the wife of Dominic Calvert-Lewin on social media.
“This malicious and intimidating behaviour is not only profoundly hurtful and distressing, but it is also criminal — and does not reflect the values of Everton or the vast majority of our supporters.
“The Club maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of discriminatory and abusive behaviour.
“We are collaborating closely with Merseyside Police and the Premier League to ensure that those responsible are identified and held accountable for their actions.
“Threats or abuse of any kind — whether online or in person — are entirely unacceptable and have no place in football or in society.
“We will continue to provide our full support to Dominic and his family.”
Calvert-Lewin and Sandra have been a couple for several years, welcoming their first child in 2023.
The Everton striker proposed to his partner in June 2024.
They subsequently married in March in a discreet registry office ceremony attended by only a small number of close friends and family.
