Esteban Rodriguez staged an impressive comeback to defeat Chris Camozzi and claim the interim cruiserweight world title at BKFC 88.
Rodriguez began the fight aggressively, aiming for a swift victory against the former UFC fighter. However, this strategy proved taxing, and by the second round, fatigue was evident as Camozzi gained control of the bout.
In the third round, the fight was briefly halted when Camozzi appeared to land an illegal strike while in a headlock with Rodriguez. The punch was subsequently ruled legal, and the fight continued with Camozzi winning the round on the judges’ scorecards.
Camozzi seemed to be dominating the penultimate round, targeting Rodriguez’s body with 30 seconds remaining. However, a glancing uppercut from Rodriguez visibly staggered Camozzi. Shortly after, Camozzi took a knee, prompting the referee to begin the 10-count.
In a dramatic turn of events, Camozzi was unable to recover, ending the fight and marking the most significant win of Rodriguez’s bare-knuckle boxing career.
Official Result: Esteban Rodriguez defeated Chris Camozzi via KO at 1:43 of Round 4 to become the interim BKFC cruiserweight champion.
