Eddie Howe Continues Hospital Stay with Pneumonia, Will Miss More Newcastle Games

Newcastle United has confirmed that their head coach, Eddie Howe, is currently recovering from pneumonia.

Howe, 47, was hospitalized on Friday evening, which led to him missing his scheduled pre-match press conference due to illness.

He was also absent from Sunday’s game against Manchester United at St James` Park, where his assistant manager, Jason Tindall, took charge of the team.

Newcastle United has now announced that Howe remains in hospital due to pneumonia.

According to a club statement, Howe will not be present for the upcoming matches against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa as he continues his recovery.

The club`s official statement reads: "Newcastle United confirms that Eddie Howe is in hospital recovering from a diagnosis of pneumonia.

"The club is sending its best wishes and support to Eddie and his family during his ongoing recovery.

"Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will manage the team for the games against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa this week. Further updates will be provided in due course."

In a personal statement, Howe expressed his gratitude to the hospital staff for their continuous care.

He stated: "A massive thank you to everyone within Newcastle United and the broader football community for the outpouring of messages and well wishes. They are deeply appreciated by me and my family.

"I also want to acknowledge the incredible NHS and the hospital staff who are looking after me.

"I am incredibly thankful for the specialized care I am receiving and, after some time to recover, I am eager to return as soon as possible."

Bruno Guimaraes dedicated Newcastle’s 4-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday to Howe.

He explained: "Before the match, we decided that we would play for him."

"He has been amazing for us, and we felt his absence in training.

"We hope our performance brought him joy and that he will be back for our next game. It’s been a challenging week for him."

Harvey Barnes added: "He is on the path to recovery, we hope. He has a huge influence throughout the week.

"We knew we had a responsibility to perform without him. We said before the game we needed to give him something to smile about."

There is a possibility that Howe could be back on the sidelines for Newcastle’s game against Ipswich next Saturday.
