David Beckham Slams Man Utd Players’ Behaviour on Asia Tour

Football News

Manchester United legend David Beckham has strongly criticized the current squad`s conduct off the pitch during their recent trip to Malaysia and Hong Kong.

The former England captain described the recent behaviour from United`s stars as “not okay”.

Beckham, who won six Premier League titles during his illustrious career at Old Trafford, expressed significant disappointment with the present team, suggesting they lack “manners”.

The criticism follows the team`s challenging post-season tour of Asia. Incidents have surfaced involving players in clashes with supporters and making offensive gestures, such as showing the middle finger.

These events occurred after a difficult season where United finished without major silverware. Beckham conveyed his feelings to CBS Sports ahead of the Champions League final, stating, “It`s tough times [at United].”

He added, “I don`t like seeing some of things that are going on at the club. On the pitch is what counts but in all honesty I`m seeing a lot of things that are not okay in my eyes as a fan and as a lover of Man United.”

Beckham emphasized the importance of representing the club properly: “You have to represent the badge. That`s what it is about. I`ve seen a lot of things where players are not acting in the right manner.”

The team`s lengthy travel to Malaysia happened shortly after the Premier League season concluded. Alejandro Garnacho was reportedly involved in a fan altercation, appearing bored at scheduled meet and greets. Both the Argentine, Garnacho, and Amad Diallo were observed making middle finger gestures towards supporters.

Beckham contrasted the current situation with his own playing era: “We were a part of a team that was so well mannered. We understood what it meant to play for Manchester United. We understood what the badge meant.”

He concluded by stressing the importance of fan respect: “Wherever we travelled, whether it was in Europe or in Asia, we respected the fans. We respected the fact that they were turning up, paying money and wanting you to sign and take pictures. You respect that.”
