Match Notes
Based on recent odds, the Dallas Stars are favored to win the series (-340), while the Winnipeg Jets have longer odds for a series victory (+270). Looking ahead, Dallas is also considered the current overall favorite to win the Stanley Cup (+325), with the Jets listed at +1500.
Kyle Connor of Winnipeg has accumulated 13 points through 10 playoff games so far. This places him fifth all-time in Thrashers/Jets 2.0 franchise history for points in a single postseason. He trails four players from the 2018 playoff run: Blake Wheeler (21), Mark Scheifele (20), Dustin Byfuglien (16), and Paul Stastny (15).
Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck continues to exhibit significant home and road performance differences this postseason. He boasts a 5-1 record at home with a 1.99 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. Conversely, his road record is 0-4, with a 6.63 GAA and a .772 SV%.
Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger`s next victory will see him surpass Tim Thomas and Ben Bishop, moving into sixth place all-time in playoff wins among American-born goaltenders.
Öcal`s Three Stars from Monday
1. Stuart Skinner, G, Edmonton Oilers
Skinner made 23 saves to earn his second career postseason shutout. He is now the sixth Oilers goalie to record multiple clean sheets in the playoffs, joining Grant Fuhr, Curtis Joseph, Bill Ranford, Cam Talbot, and Mike Smith.
2. Adam Henrique, C, Edmonton Oilers
The veteran forward recorded the second multi-goal playoff game of his career. This also marked the second consecutive game an Oilers player scored two goals in the first period, following Corey Perry in Game 3.
3. Sean Walker, D, Carolina Hurricanes
Walker registered two points, including his first career playoff goal in his 22nd postseason contest. His goal late in the third period helped secure the final score in the game.
Monday`s Recaps
Carolina Hurricanes 5, Washington Capitals 2
(CAR leads 3-1 | Game 5 Thursday)
While Game 4 wasn`t a shutout like Saturday`s Game 3, the Hurricanes maintained a dominant performance and are now just one victory away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Final. Shayne Gostisbehere opened the scoring with his third of the postseason in the first period, and Seth Jarvis added his third playoff goal early in the second. This lead held until midway through the third, when the Capitals got on the board through Jakob Chychrun. Taylor Hall quickly responded for Carolina, before Alex Ovechkin scored on the power play to make it 3-2. However, Sean Walker and Andrei Svechnikov added goals in the final five minutes to seal the win for the Hurricanes, who take a 3-1 series lead back to Washington for Game 5.
Edmonton Oilers 3, Vegas Golden Knights 0
(EDM leads 3-1 | Game 5 Wednesday)
Adam Henrique, known for one of the most memorable playoff goals in New Jersey Devils history (defeating the Rangers in 2012), may not have replicated *that* level of drama on Monday, but his two goals were crucial in bringing the Oilers within one game of the Western Conference Final. Henrique found the back of the net twice in the first period. Evander Kane added another goal in the second period. This offensive support was more than enough for Stuart Skinner, who stopped all 23 shots faced from the Golden Knights, leaving Vegas on the brink of elimination.
