Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier discussed how a lapse in focus during his second fight against Jon Jones ultimately resulted in a knockout defeat.
“I was fighting very well,” Cormier recalled. “I began talking to him, lost my focus, and ultimately, I was kicked in the head. I got distracted – and he connected. I should have maintained concentration. That`s likely my biggest regret. That night, I felt so confident that I pushed boundaries and did things totally unlike me, and I paid the price for it,” Daniel stated in an interview with Eddie Alvarez.
It`s worth noting that in 2017, Jones defeated Cormier by knockout in the third round. However, the outcome of the bout was later changed to a `no contest` after Jones failed a post-fight drug test.
