Craig Jones, the grappling coach for UFC welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena, recently shared his thoughts concerning the combat sport of sambo.
Offering a somewhat humorous perspective, Jones stated, “Sambo is essentially the type of sport where two judokas just decide to take off their pants and wrestle. I genuinely have a lot of respect for that.”
He then added a provocative comment regarding the perceived strength of different wrestling styles: “However, Reinier de Ridder has already disproven the idea of dominant American wrestlers [by defeating Bo Nickal], and Australians have now done the same regarding the strength of Russian wrestlers. So, it makes you wonder, is there actually any country left where people can *really* wrestle?”
