UFC middleweight contender Khamzat Chimaev has recounted his aspiration to engage in a sparring session with Conor McGregor, an endeavor that was ultimately prevented due to his inability to enter Ireland.
Chimaev stated, “It wasn`t something I initiated. I learned from a compatriot, a Chechen fighter, that Conor had knocked him down during sparring. This individual then shared a photo online. Subsequently, my associates suggested I spar with Conor. I made the journey, but I was unable to locate him. I was denied entry at the airport, detained, and subsequently sent back. It was likely a case of mistaken identity. Later, I received correspondence from the British authorities confirming my eligibility to return to the country at my convenience.”
