Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has received a two-year driving ban after accumulating an extraordinary 47 penalty points on his license.
This points total is significantly higher than the current Premier League points tally of teams like Manchester United, who are on 39 points, highlighting the severity of the offences.

During a hearing at Lavender Hill magistrates’ court in South West London on Wednesday, it was revealed Fofana committed eight driving offences involving three different vehicles within a year.
Fofana, 24, who was not present at the court session, was labeled a “habitual speeder” by bench chairman John Soones. An additional 38 points were added to his existing nine, resulting in the total of 47.
Mr. Soones commented on the case, stating: “We take into account the fact he is a habitual speeder, with access to powerful motor cars, who speeds at nearly double the speed limit.”
The first recorded offence occurred last March when he was caught driving his Lamborghini Urus at 26 mph in a 20 mph zone in Brixton, South London.
Subsequently, Fofana was found to be driving his £300,000 Rolls-Royce Cullinan on five occasions and his blue 4.0-litre Audi twice, all within a 50 mph zone on the A3 Esher bypass.
On this route, which he frequently uses to travel between his home in Kingston-upon-Thames and Chelsea`s training ground in Cobham, Surrey, he reached speeds up to 88 mph.
Fofana admitted guilt to all charges. The numerous nature of his offences meant they were spread across multiple courtrooms within the building.
Chairman Mr Soones remarked on the volume of cases, saying: “He’s got a flush. He is in court one, two and three. But we have gathered them all together.”
His lawyer, Imogen Cox, told the court that Fofana “is a young man that plays football for a living and he works extremely hard, training, and has foolishly not complied with the rules of the road.”
Fofana was ordered to pay a fine of £5,328, along with a £2,131 victim surcharge and £110 in court costs.
He had previously received a six-month driving disqualification for speeding in January 2023.
The player is also known among Chelsea fans as a “sick note” due to significant time missed because of two major knee injuries sustained since his £70 million transfer from Leicester City in 2022.
