Duff, who is 46 years old, received a ban that prevented him from being on the touchline for Shelbourne`s away game against title contenders Bohemian on Friday night.

The suspension came after he was shown his fifth yellow card during their victory over St Patrick`s Athletic the previous week.

However, his ban did not deter him from finding a way to watch his team in action.

The retired winger was photographed standing on a hill offering a view of Dalymount Park.

He had attempted to hide his identity by wearing a face covering and a cap.

Despite the disguise, some fans recognised him and were impressed by his actions.

One supporter posted: “Interesting viewpoint for Damien Duff at Dalymount Park.”

Another wrote: “Possibly my favourite LOI picture of all time. Damien Duff serving his touchline ban during Shelbourne’s visit to Dalymount Park to take on Bohemians.”

A third person humorously commented: “Damien Duff in the ghillie suit.”

Someone else simply labelled the moment: “Iconic already.”

A fifth user described the scene: “Suspended manager, on a hillside, desolate.”

Another fan added: “Say what you like about him, but this guy`s brilliant entertainment.”

Duff would likely have been unhappy with the final score, as his Shelbourne side lost 1-0 due to a penalty scored by Dayle Rooney.

Adding to his frustration, he also had to watch his team finish the match with only nine players after Mark Coyle and Alistair Coote were both sent off.
