Carlos Ulberg Pushes to Be Backup for Ankalaev-Pereira Rematch

MMA News

UFC light heavyweight Carlos Ulberg has openly expressed his strong desire to serve as a backup fighter for a potential rematch between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira.

Ulberg revealed his proactive approach to securing this role, stating, “I spoke with Hunter Campbell immediately after my last fight and asked him to bring me to Las Vegas. He said `sure,` so everything is looking positive. I explicitly told him I want to be the backup.”

He further elaborated on his ambitious intentions during the press conference, emphasizing his goal to create a unique record in the sport. “My aim is to set records. I don`t believe anyone has ever fought for a title the weekend immediately following another bout. That`s the vision I have, and I`ve already made my intentions clear. Firstly, I want to be in Las Vegas. If the UFC designates me as the backup — that would be fantastic. I am absolutely prepared to step in and do the job if either fighter happens to withdraw.”
