Bruno Fernandes Weighs Shock Al-Hilal Transfer Bid; Today Could Be His Manchester United Swansong

Football News

Reports suggest Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is seriously considering a surprising transfer offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.

Manchester United`s skipper is reportedly being eyed by Al-Hilal, who are looking to make a marquee signing this summer following Neymar`s departure.

The Saudi Pro League side is understood to be willing to pay a substantial £100 million fee to secure the services of Fernandes, who would also receive a highly lucrative salary package if he were to move to The Kingdom.

According to The Athletic, the 30-year-old is “giving serious consideration” to this potential move, with initial talks for the Portugal international already underway.

Should Fernandes accept the attractive offer on the table, his appearance in today`s friendly match against Hong Kong could potentially be his final game as a United player.

The Red Devils are playing Hong Kong in a friendly this afternoon as part of their end-of-season tour of Asia. Fernandes was named in the starting XI for the match, with manager Ruben Amorim saying of his inclusion: “We need to respect and do better than the last game. We understand the players are tired from all the commercial things for our fans. Now it`s time to perform to show good things for our fans.”

Fernandes is just one of several United stars who could be available for sale this summer. Young talents like Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are also reportedly in line to be sold to help finance Amorim`s overhaul of the squad.

This situation has likely been influenced by United`s failure to secure Champions League football, particularly after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham last week.

In the aftermath of the 1-0 defeat, Fernandes commented on his future at Old Trafford, stating his position is ultimately up to the club. The former Sporting Lisbon ace said: “I have always been honest. I`ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it`s time to go. I`m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club the great days. In the day that the club thinks that I`m too much or it`s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I`ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way. If the club thinks it`s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it`s what it is. And football sometimes is like this.”
