Arsenal`s rising star, Ethan Nwaneri, celebrated his first start for England`s under-21 team by scoring a remarkable goal just ten minutes into the match on Monday.
Nwaneri, who recently turned 18, received his first call-up to the U21 squad earlier this month.

After making a substitute appearance in the previous game against France, where England U21s were defeated 5-3, Nwaneri impressed manager Lee Carsley in training. This performance earned him a starting position for Monday`s friendly match against Portugal.
England quickly took the lead in the friendly game thanks to Hayden Hackney. Soon after, Nwaneri extended their advantage in the 10th minute with a stunning strike.
The young Arsenal talent received the ball outside the penalty box, skillfully turned towards the goal, moved to a central position, and curled a precise shot into the bottom left corner of the net.
Fans online quickly praised the wonderkid`s goal. One fan described him as “special,” while another noted his “signature goal.” Another fan marveled at his already recognizable style of finishing at such a young age.
Portugal managed to reduce the deficit with a goal from Fabio Silva in the 22nd minute. However, Omari Hutchinson of Ipswich Town later increased England`s lead again.
Further goals from Carlos Forbs and Jaden Philogene secured a 4-2 victory for the England U21s.
Speaking about Nwaneri’s impressive goal, manager Carsley commented on Nwaneri`s signature finish, acknowledging that while predictable, it`s incredibly difficult to defend against. He emphasized Nwaneri`s talent but also reminded everyone of his young age, 18.
Carsley stressed the importance of supporting young players like Nwaneri, ensuring they are encouraged even when faced with challenges. He concluded by highlighting the remarkable impression Nwaneri has already made.
Carsley expressed his desire to include Nwaneri in the squad for the upcoming tournament in Slovakia. He mentioned that discussions with Arsenal would be necessary to ensure that any decisions made are in the best interest of the player`s development.
